Fairtrade Fortnight 2019 was another great success with schools, town groups and places of worship coming together to celebrate Fairtrade and campaign against unfair trade!
This year, Fairtrade Fortnight focused on cocoa. Farmers of this much-loved product have seen prices fall to crisis levels in the last few years, making life incredibly difficult. This is especially true in West Africa where most cocoa is grown.
The drop in cocoa prices means it’s more important than ever to shout about why choosing Fairtrade is so important, but we need to go further.
Choosing Fairtrade makes huge changes – we have seen this first-hand. To take this to the next stage, this Fairtrade Fortnight we launched a new 3-year campaign that will encourage everyone in the cocoa sector – consumers, companies, governments and others – to play their part and make a living income a reality for cocoa farmers.
We launched brand new learning resources and ideas to help schools bring about this change and will be adding more as the campaign continues – make sure you sign up to our newsletters so you’re the first to hear upcoming announcements.
