The Fairtrade Foundation is proud to be part of ‘Our Shared World’ coalition

The Fairtrade Foundation is proud to be part of the Our Shared World coalition. OSW is a broad coalition advocating for SDG 4.7 in England by 2030. OSW is coalition of more than 150 members including NGOs, Businesses, Universities; Teacher, Headteacher and Student Unions, Subject Associations, Youth Groups, and individuals.

Fairtrade has been a part of ‘Our Shared World’ since 2019, and part of the Global Citizen Education group within it. We believe that organisations that support a holistic, critical and global education can achieve great things when we work together. We also believe it is important to equip young people with the tools to create a more sustainable, fairer, peaceful and resilient society.

The world today is facing complex challenges, affecting the entire planet. Future generations require the skills, aptitudes, resilience and, above all, compassion to deal with these challenges. The education our children receive now must prepare them to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world.

Global problems need us to be working as a global community. Across the world, we all need much higher awareness of the causes and effects of these complex global challenges, and of how our lives and actions are intertwined with those of others.

We invite you to read more about Our Shared World here and welcome you to become part of the movement.

“By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.”
